Adventures at the Nerman Art Museum

I had the lucky chance to go with my graphic design class to the Nerman Art Museum. We enjoyed walking around the campus of JCCC, observing the art of students. The art was very intelligent and creative. Art has existed as a form of communication, expression, and passion for nearly forever. Everyone creates. The students of JCCC used materials such as Duct Tape, glitter, and beads in ways I had never thought of. No painting I saw there ever looked the same way twice.

Then we ventured over to the Nerman. My group focused mainly on the works of KAWS. Starting out as a tag artist, he now makes art based on commercial influence, especially influence on children. He marks everything with a signature X. Awhile back I spontaneously became interested in graffiti and tag art. I personally enjoy graffiti when it is creative and well done. I don't like tagging as much, but either way, it is really inspiring that a talent that started on the streets is now in a museum. I learned the difference between modern and contemporary art, different materials used for art, and what inspires artists today. Yet, there is much more to learn. The Nerman is cool place to be.
